Choose your dose: Micro vs. Macro
What is right for you?
Microdosing
Microdosing involves taking sub-perceptual amounts of psilocybin mushrooms—small enough not to cause full-blown psychedelic effects but enough to subtly enhance mood, creativity, and sensory perception.
Macrodosing
A macrodose is a full psychedelic dose of psilocybin mushrooms, enough to create strong perceptual, emotional, and cognitive shifts—ranging from vivid visuals to deep introspection, euphoria, and altered sense of reality.
Dose Guide
If you are unsure, always start lower. You can’t “un-take” mushrooms.
What to Expect
A microdose can be as easy as a Sunday morning, and a macrodose can be life-changing, joyful, or deeply challenging. Respect the experience, and approach it thoughtfully for the best outcome.
Prepare Your Set and Setting
- Set: Your mindset matters. Be calm, open, and prepared for intensity that you've selected.
- Setting: Safe, comfortable, private environment. Nature works well. Avoid chaotic or unfamiliar spaces.
- Trip sitter: Have a sober, trusted person nearby if it’s your first time or higher dose.
Choose Your Method
- Chew and swallow: Eat dried mushrooms directly, chewing thoroughly.
- Tea: Brew mushrooms into tea for a gentler stomach experience.
- Lemon tek: Soak ground mushrooms in lemon juice for 15-20 minutes before drinking. This can intensify and shorten the trip.
Plan for the Experience
- Onset: 30 to 60 minutes. If you are new to the experience, wait at least 45 minutes to feel effects and increase from there. You cannot "un-take" mushrooms.
- Peak: 2 to 3 hours after ingestion
- Total duration: 4 to 6 hours (sometimes up to 8)
During the Trip
- Stay hydrated
- Listen to calming music or nature sounds
- Let go of expectations—resistance often creates discomfort
- Journaling or voice recording during come-down can help process insights
Aftercare / Integration
- Rest after the experience
- Reflect on emotions and insights
- Journaling or talking with trusted friends can help integrate the experience
- Avoid jumping back into normal tasks immediately
Important Warnings
- Do not drive or operate machinery
- Avoid mixing with alcohol
- Not advised if you’re prone to psychosis, extreme anxiety, or other serious mental health conditions
